VENT EVALUATION

VENT EVALUATION SERVICE

OUR EXPERIENCED, DRYER EXHAUST TECHNICIANS PERFORM A FULL DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION TO ACCURATELY ASSESS THE SERVICE NEEDED ON YOUR DRYER EXHAUST SYSTEM.

During a dryer vent inspection our technicians will conduct a multi-point safety check and use the manufacturer-recommended testing methods and equipment to evaluate and test the safety and performance of your dryer exhaust duct.

The evaluation begins with a visual inspection of the transition hose, main exhaust duct (if visible), all visible joint connections, and termination outlet. The visual inspection helps us to determine the ducts net length and check for any deficiencies, repairs, or re-routes that may be needed to keep your dryer running properly. This visual inspection also helps to verify if there are any fire, safety, or health hazards present.

After our thorough visual inspection, one of our technicians will test the velocity of the air flow with a digital vane anemometer and measure the exhaust system’s static pressure (back pressure) with a Magnehelic gauge. Our technicians will provide a written evaluation report and estimate based upon the diagnostic inspection. They will go over the evaluation report with the homeowner and walk them through the services needed to keep their home safe.

dryer vent inspection

Most manufactures, as well as the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), recommend dryer vents be routinely inspected and cleaned at least once per year. Annual inspection and cleaning greatly decreases the likelihood of a dryer exhaust duct fire and helps to save energy by keeping the dryer running efficiently.

FAQs

To check a dryer vent, visually inspect the vent hose and exterior vent for blockages or damage, then use a dryer vent brush to clean inside the hose and vent. Finally, ensure the dryer is properly venting air to the outside when running.

Dryer vents expel hot, moist air from the dryer to the outside, preventing heat and moisture from accumulating indoors. They consist of a hose connected from the dryer to an outdoor vent, allowing lint and air to be expelled safely.

The requirement for a license to clean dryer vents varies by location, with some states or local jurisdictions requiring a specific service license or business permit. It’s essential to check with your local government or regulatory body to determine the specific requirements in your area.
