It is risky to place a ladder directly on a sloped roof. Use a roof ladder hook or work from an adequately secured extension ladder placed against the house, not on the roof itself.
It is advisable to have someone assist you by holding the ladder steady while you climb and work. Never use a ladder in windy or inclement weather conditions.
