At Dryer Vent Guardian, we don’t just clean dryer ducts. We also provide customers with a courtesy safety check, for all the recommended safety products that should be in all laundry rooms. All laundry areas should be equipped with at least a smoke alarm, and fire extinguisher. Laundry areas with gas fired appliances should be equipped with a carbon monoxide detector.
Only 3% of smoke alarms are likely to fail in the first year. In ten years there is roughly a 30% probability of failure before replacement. At 15 years, the chances are better than 50% that your alarm has failed.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors
First Alert brand alarms are warranted for 5 years, afterwards, they should be replaced. Sensor pack modules and batteries should be replaced as needed for those alarms requiring them. If your carbon monoxide detectors are older than 5 years, consider replacement units.
LintAlert Safety Alarm Systems
The LintAlert® enhances your home safety plan by monitoring the dryer exhaust system for problems. As lint naturally builds up over time, LED indicators progressively illuminate to show how efficiently your dryer is operating. When airflow restriction becomes dangerous, an alarm is triggered.
Keep an extinguisher in every part of your home where fire might occur-especially in the kitchen, living room and laundry room. Need help choosing a fire extinguisher? The only time a fire extinguisher should be used to fight a fire is when the fire is small and self-contained.
